Poetry and Poems About Reclaiming The Inner Child
Freeing the Inner Child
The Inner-Child is the Keeper of Our Secret Dreams
A Child Hides Inside of Me
Floating upon clouds
Touching the stars
Exploring the universe
Both near and far.
Traveling the world,
Swimming with mermaids,
Flying with birds.
She dreams in castles
High atop mountain peaks
Of unicorns and fairies,
Of lions who speak.
A Child Grieves Inside of Me
For innocence lost and scars that bleed,
For broken promises,
For love that ends,
For all the losses
Time cannot mend.
Hurtful words un-thoughtful acts,
The sting of which
Cannot be taken back.
Gasping angry sobs
Rage against tyranny and hate,
Protesting unjust choices
The powerful make.
.
A Child Laughs Inside of Me
A delighted giggle at firefly light,
At making funny faces
At hanging upside down
Running through a field,
Or spinning round and round.
Instinctively knowing that laughter is a must
As necessary to living life
As belief, and faith, and trust.
Better for healing than potion or tonic
Its power can be found
When pure joy and happiness
Burst forth into sound.
A Child Lives Inside of Me
Protected from doubt and disbelief
Safely unaware that the world has changed
She believes in the hero's hat of white
In good over evil,
And the absolute of wrong and right.
Stirring the memories of simpler days
When awe and wonder
Marked our childhood play.
My past child-self,
Residing in the heart of a more jaded me
Making it possible
For us both to believe.
