"Freeing the Inner Child"

A Child Hides Inside of Me

Floating upon clouds

Touching the stars

Exploring the universe

Both near and far.

Traveling the world

Swimming with mermaids

Flying with birds.

She dreams in castles

High atop mountain peaks

Of unicorns and fairies

Of lions who speak.

A Child Grieves Inside of Me

For innocence lost and scars that bleed,

For broken promises,

For love that ends,

For all the losses

Time cannot mend.

Hurtful words un-thoughtful acts

The sting of which,

Cannot be taken back.

Gasping angry sobs

Rage against tyranny and hate,

Protesting unjust choices

The powerful make.

.

A Child Laughs Inside of Me

A delighted giggle at firefly light,

At making funny faces

At hanging upside down

Running through a field,

Or spinning round and round.

Instinctively knowing that laughter is a must

As necessary to living life

As belief, and faith, and trust.

Better for healing than potion or tonic

Its power can be found

When pure joy and happiness

Burst forth into sound.

A Child Lives Inside of Me

Protected from doubt and disbelief

Safely unaware that the world has changed

She believes in the hero's hat of white

In good over evil,

And the absolute of wrong and right.

Stirring the memories of simpler days

When awe and wonder

Marked our childhood play.

My past child-self,

Residing in the heart of a more jaded me

Making it possible

For us both to believe.

I loved them! I especially enjoyed the first one as I recall being a kid and looking at the stars, imagining swimming with mermaids when I looked upon the beach....so beautiful the words and fantasies you remember as a child.

Our Inner Child is always with us, even when we don't notice Her/Him.

tnderheart23 and Karen Wodke- Thank you both for your kind words.

Pachuca213- I think that sometimes if we are lucky enough to be able to look back and remember when things weren't so complicated that those dreams we dreamt as children, help us to overcome some of the uglier moments of adult life, just by reminding us that simpler times are possible....If that makes sense?

I luv this, talking about spinning around and running in fields, making funny faces made me think of my childhood eventhough it isn't much a distant memory. reminds me of home where i was surrounded by fields and i could play in all day :) Amazing

I think you pretty much summed up the inner child still buried within us. Loved the title.

ahorseback - thank you very much!

Time2shine - Thank you for your kind words. The place that I grew up in had fields too, I actually live there now, except that all the fields are gone. Childhood is an amazing time, and I believe that all of us should keep a piece of that time in our hearts....

jimagain - Thank you so much!

I think a child lives eternally inside all of us but it becomes so buried in some people it never sees the light of day. Part of the true joy of life is seen through the innocent eyes of the child. Christmas always smelled the best when I was a child...the thought never is far from my mind in that season. So many experiences...so many fun memories. Thanks for reminding us and thanks for sharing. WB

@Wayne Brown - You are so very welcome. I couldn't agree with you more, I love to listen to my four year old's rambling explanations of new things or ideas she has discovered, that to you and I are everyday items or occurances that taken for granted, we don't even give any thought to. Thank you for the gift of your time and for your comments, they are always welcomed and deeply appreciated.
